I am a VT pastel artist and am happiest painting outside in three seasons.
In our fourth and fifth seasons (mud season and winter), I prefer to paint from a model or a still life rather than from photographs. I derive my inspiration from the beauty around me wherever I am.

My Artist Statement
Art to me is about color. That is why I love to paint landscape. To be outside, smelling the fresh air, listening to the birds, and reveling in the many changes the seasons bring is pure joy. Art is about seeing. The focus and concentration necessary to really see brings on a meditative state. Art is also portable. When I travel, I paint my response to what I see before me and later have a visual memory of a special moment in time. Art is primarily about creating. I have always loved to make something beautiful out of nothing. Long before I painted, my garden and my loom were my canvasses. Art is about self-discovery. I have learned that even one born without the “art gene” can succeed with patience, perseverance, and practice. The most important discovery I have made on this new road is that process is more important than product. It is what happens internally while painting that is significant. I continue to make wonderful friends on this exciting journey, and I consider myself blessed to be one of the people who make art.
